SelfEmploymentTaxEstimator.com is a free educational site operated by Woodfire Digital, LLC, the company I run independently. I respect your privacy. This policy explains what information I collect, how I use it, and your choices regarding that information. Where this policy says "I" or "me," that means Woodfire Digital, LLC, the operator of this site.

Information I Collect

Information You Provide

If you use the contact form on this site, I collect the name, email address and message content you submit. I use it only to respond to your inquiry. I do not sell it or use it for marketing. To deliver your message, the form sends it through Resend, an email delivery service, and to protect the form from spam it uses Cloudflare Turnstile (both described under Third-Party Services below). Those services handle the data only to provide their service.

Calculator Data

The tax calculator on this site runs in your browser. The income figures, filing status and other data you enter are not sent to any server or stored in any database while you use it. When you close the page, that data is gone.

There is one exception, and it only happens if you choose it. Below your results is a button that opens Self Employment Toolkit (selfemploymenttoolkit.com), a separate site also operated by Woodfire Digital, LLC. If you click it, the calculator sends these figures to that site so it can prefill a new account: your self-employment income, business expenses, W-2 wages, estimated total tax, tax year and filing status. It does not send your name, email address or anything else that identifies you. Once sent, those figures are handled under the Self Employment Toolkit privacy policy. If you never click the button, nothing leaves your browser. Google Analytics records that the button was clicked, but not the figures.

Automatically Collected Information

When you visit this site, certain information is collected automatically through third-party services described below. This may include your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and time spent on the site.

Third-Party Services

Google Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics (measurement ID: G-KCCZHXPBZQ) to help me understand how visitors use the site, which pages are visited most often, and how people find the site. Google Analytics collects usage data using cookies. I use this data to improve the site and its educational content. Google's data practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Google AdSense

This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense may use cookies and web beacons to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies is described in the Google Advertising Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or by visiting aboutads.info.

Google Fonts

This site loads the Inter typeface from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser connects to Google's servers to retrieve the font files. Google may log this request. Google's privacy practices for this service are described in the Google Fonts Privacy FAQ.

Cloudflare

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may collect certain technical data (IP address, request headers) as part of its content delivery and security services. Cloudflare's privacy practices are described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Cloudflare Turnstile

The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is submitting it. Turnstile runs in your browser on the contact page and evaluates technical signals such as your browser and device characteristics. It does not require you to solve a puzzle. Cloudflare's handling of this data is described in the Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

Resend

Messages you send through the contact form are delivered to me by email using Resend, an email delivery service. Resend processes your name, email address and message only to deliver it. Its practices are described in the Resend Privacy Policy.

Self Employment Toolkit

Self Employment Toolkit is a separate site operated by the same company, Woodfire Digital, LLC. It receives data from this site only if you click the button described under Calculator Data above. Its privacy policy covers what it does with that data.

Cookies

This site uses cookies in the following ways:

• Theme preference: A localStorage item ("theme") stores your light/dark mode preference so the site remembers your choice between visits. This is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to any server.
• Google Analytics cookies: Used to distinguish unique visitors and track site usage. These are set by Google, not by this site directly.
• Google AdSense cookies: Used to serve and measure advertisements. These are set by Google and its advertising partners.

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of certain third-party features (such as analytics and advertising) but will not affect the calculator itself.

Data Sharing

I do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. Data is shared with third parties only as described in this policy: automatic collection by Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Google Fonts and Cloudflare; Cloudflare Turnstile and Resend when you use the contact form; and Self Employment Toolkit if you click the button that sends your calculator figures there.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the contact form, please contact me and I will delete it promptly.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information I hold about you. The personal information I hold directly is limited to contact form submissions (name, email and message content). You can exercise these rights by reaching out through the contact page. For data held by Google, Cloudflare, Resend or Self Employment Toolkit, you can also use the options in their privacy policies linked above.

Changes to This Policy

I may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
